About La Dentellière
The essence of La Dentellière
Our story
La Dentellière, a name steeped in history, dates back to 1580 when it was known as ‘t Cleene Capitel.’ Evolving through the ages, it was renamed ‘Hemelrijcke‘ in 1674 and later became the tavern ‘Het Viercante Gat‘ in 1699. Post-1939, the establishment transformed into ‘A La Dentellière Du Béguinage,’ a nod to the intricate Bruges lace crafted and sold here.
The term ‘dentellière,’ meaning lace maker, inspired the name of our restaurant, which emerged in the late 1900s. Today, La Dentellière is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Bruges’ rich history and culinary tradition, inviting you to be part of our enduring story.
